Oral Cancer

More than 9,000 Americans die of Oral Cancer every year according to the American Dental Association. So many Americans die of orally related cancer every year, because they do not have regular oral cancer examinations, or delay seeking treatment. However, if oral cancer is found at itís earliest stage, treatment is quick, simple and more than 70% successful. Therefore periodic oral cancer examinations are absolutely essential.

When it comes right down to it diagnosing, oral cancer is a dentistís responsibility. It is up to us to find it. Part of our examination process involves a thorough intra-oral and extra-oral cancer exam.  If we donít find it, then who will. If you havenít had a dental exam in the past year it is a good idea to consult your dentist about the risks of oral cancer in your mouth.

Remember, early detection is the key to successful treatment of dental disease.
