How to acquire D-E Project Accounting Tools

How to acquire D-E Project Accounting tools

This article describes how you can acquire TECA, the D-E Project Accounting computer program, and the related book entitled Project Accounting for complex engineering projects.

Today nobody can execute accounting without some kind of computer software: neither business accountants, nor cost engineers. Days when bookkeeping was done using pen and paper are gone. Today, finances of every business are handled by accountants using computer software, where the dual-entry (DEBIT=CREDIT) accounting method is embedded.  Business accountants have choices of multitude of computer programs, covering various areas of business accounting, such as General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payrolls, and even Engineering Project Cost.  However, so far cost engineers have available only one computer software - TECA - that utilizes the dual-entry accounting method tailored to suit engineering projects. Quite possible that in some distant future, there will more similar programs available, but so far not now.

Can computer programs used by business accountants be used by cost engineers for Project Cost Planning and Control? No, because the business orientation of PROFIT or LOSS does not fit Project Cost Engineering that is concerned with BUDGET and TiME-COST. Although many accounting features are similar - such as the format of journals and ledgers, yet the basic equations governing the accounting concept of Business Finance and that of Engineering Cost Control are both completely different; click here. Moreover, D-E Cost Engineering implements COST-NETWORK (click here) that has no counterpart in Business Accounting.

As you know, the TECA computer program presents an attachment to my book - Project Accounting for complex engineering project.  The book with the attached computer program TECA, Version 4.1, (click here to read the table of contents), comprises 786 pages and consists of four (4) parts:

  1. Theory of D-E Cost Engineering
  2. Tutorial for TECA
  3. Bookkeeping samples of three large engineering projects
  4. User Manual of TECA

The book with the attached computer program is sold (listing price US$195.95) on Internet by Infinity Publishing and  by Amazon, and it can be also purchased directly in some technical book stores in the USA only.  However, some readers of my e-mail articles - particularly those who reside in Africa and Asia - informed me that they had been refused the book purchase due to  reasons of currency exchange restrictions.

In view of the above, through this article, I make the following two offers to you:

1.  Buy the BOOK with TECA the computer program (versions 4.1, 5.2, and 6.0)

If you wish to purchase the book with the TECA computer program, you can buy it at the greatly reduced price, from the Author directly:

ITEM USA or CANADA OTHER COUNTRIES
Book including TECA Version 4.1  $150.00  $150.00
CD Disk with TECA Ver. 5.2 and Ver. 6.0  $0.00 $0.00
Shipping $25.00 $65.00
TOTAL US $175.00   US $215.00

There are two methods of payments:

  • If you can arrange a check or money order drawn on any US bank, then you should air-mail it to me with your covering letter, providing there the address where my book with the attached two CDs shall be air-mailed.
  • If you, or your company wants to arrange for the bank transfer, then you should inform me about that via email. In return, I will mail to you, or to your company my invoice, supplying all information about the bank account in the USA where the money transfer should be made. As soon as the money arrives at my bank account, I will air-mail to you the book with the two CDs attached.

2.  Buy only TECA the computer program four Versions

The TECA Ver. 5.2 (for Version #1) and TECA Ver 6.0 (for Versions #2, #3, and #4) are special ones. Whereas the older version 4.1 (supplied with the book) requires keeping the supplied CD in the drive in order to run TECA, the Versions 5.2 (narrow format) and 6.0 (wide format) allow running the program without the CD present. The TECA program is NOT copyright protected, and the supplied CD can be disk-copied and distributed freely. Very important is that these new versions have several important enhancements, particularly such related to gWBS Accounts, Changer Orders, and Data Retrievals. When possessing only the TECA Versions 5.2 or 6.0, but not the book (that contains the User Manual), you can read instead the help screens (by clicking F1 button). TECA Ver. 6.0 allows to access this website directly from the program, with reference to major topics of the D-E Cost Engineering, where you can also read all articles related to the D-E Project Cost Accounting theory, in lieu of the User Manual and the book.

If you wish to purchase the TECA computer program only, you can buy it from the Author directly:

ITEM USA or CANADA OTHER COUNTRIES
TECA Ver. 5.2 and three (3) Ver. 6.0 $50.00 $50.00
Shipping $10.00 $25.00
TOTAL US $60.00   US $75.00
